Trash into Treasure - to show how discarded items can be redesigned into works of art as well as functional everyday items.

The top prize is $2,000 cash and the categories include sculptures/functional items/videos/photography/music. Local, national and international media will be covering the contest so it will be a wonderful opportunity for exposure.

Recycle, The Director of the IFC & Sundance Channel, MTV Intl, Current TV as well as Environmental Luminaries Paul Hawken and Annie Leonard (the Creator of the Story of Stuff) plus many more.

In addition to cash prizes, winners will be displayed as part of the Plastiki Art Exhibition (The Plastiki is a sea worthy vessel that has been created almost entirely from post consumer plastic water and soda bottles with self-reinforced PET thrown in for good measure and will sail across the Pacific Ocean. Learn more here.)

Deadline for submission is May 1, 2009. Guidelines are here.
