SEED Exhbit March 23rd at Citadel

What is the origin of inspiration? Some believe that an artist’s inherent nature, like the seed, carries within it the complete pattern for the development and expression of his or her creativity.

As time and the right conditions ignite one’s artistic fodder, what has been hidden is revealed just as the seedling finally quickens and breaks through the earth’s crust reaching for the light.

The SEED exhibition explores the origins of inspiration bringing over 80 artists and a variety of artistic medias including photography, sculpture, drawing, painting and installation to the Citadel Studios Gallery in San Jose.

One of the most interesting concept exhibitions of 2013, SEED will also feature artist portraits accompanied by a personal story detailing the critical factors that propelled them to a lifetime of creative expression.

Opening reception: March 23rd, 7 pm.’til late
Free to the public

Phantom Galleries x Cinquest UNLEASH Live Painting Finale

We'd like to thank CINEQUEST for another great year of collaboration and inspiration!

Artists Jeff Hemming, Melanie Sharr and André Hart spent the course of the Cinequest 23 Film Festival painting in the expansive windows at Camera 12 engaging audience as they passed through the paseo. The three artists made it a difficult choice to choose a winner, but Jeff Hemming won the vote as announced at the Cinequest Closing Ceremonies at the California Theatre on Saturday March 10th (followed by a special screening of "Midnight's Children" by Maverick Award Winner Salman Rushdie.)

We're very proud of Jeff, Melanie and André and look forward to next year's Phantom Galleries x Cinequest Live Art Contest partnership!

"In the Air", oil on canvas
On the theme of "Unleash": The character in my painting is at the crossroads of a decision. He imagines himself leaving his environment thereby the mind is another form of escape. ~Melanie Sharr

André Hart
"Homage to a Friend", oil, acrylic on canvas
On the theme "Unleash": The piece is tribute to a long time friend and mentor, Al Preciado. The dog in the center of the cage is being unleashed and bowed to by the two figures. Also to glorify and celebrate Al, I have put religious Symbolism through out the piece. ~André Hart

Fundraiser for The Mural Project 2013 on March 28th!

Come and join us at happy hour for some booze, food, tunes, and art!

The Mural Project's creative team is hosting a silent auction fundraiser at Koji's Sake Lounge. All proceeds will go towards The Mural Project 2013.

What is The Mural Project 2013?
In collaboration with CoachArt, our goal is to sponsor, design, and execute a mural here in the Bay Area. The Mural Project 2013 will involve local artists, the community, and CoachArt volunteers and children. Our goal is to provide an opportunity for the community to unite by creative means.

What is CoachArt?
CoachArt (www.coachart.org) is a nonprofit organization that focuses on improving the quality of life for children with chronic or life threatening diseases by offering free lessons in art, dance, and sports.

Our Plan.
With enough funds, The Mural Project's creative team will meet with CoachArt kids to discuss possible ideas, and transform it into a mural.

Can't make the event?
No worries. Click on the link to donate. Every effort counts!
