Bring Back the Arts! at Orchard School

Bring Back the Arts! Demonstrating the Power of Community and Art A Benefit for threatened Art Programs at our Local Elementary Schools

Bring Back the Arts! Events:
- City-wide break dancing competition judged by celebrity B-boy Spiderman.
- Mural project by various professional visual artists utilizing different mediums.
- Professional and amateur skateboarders performing throughout the day.
- Music from various local and out-of-area bands.
- Food, raffles, silk screening, art classes and more!

Bring Back the Arts! is about building community and fostering creativity while engaging youth in positive expression through the arts, providing young people the skills to become your innovative, problem solving workforce of the future.

Bring Back the Arts! is a spirited event that promotes creativity and unity, celebrating San Jose’s diverse cultures through various forms of creative expression including art, dance, skateboarding, and music, while raising the funds needed to employ local non-profit organizations to teach art, dance, and music at Orchard School.

Bring Back the Arts! fosters a safe environment, promoting a multicultural atmosphere where artists, community members, and children flourish together, celebrating the power of creativity. The inaugural Bring Back the Arts! event will raise funds to produce quality after-school art, dance, and music programs at Orchard School.

There's still opportunities for artists to participate:
-The artists will be working side-by-side on a 80'x 8' plywood wall that will be prepared with house paint as gesso.
-The wall will be outdoors approximately 100 feet away from the live music.
-Many artists will use aerosol paint as their medium, so masks are recommended.
-The event will begin at 11:00 and go until 4:00pm, so first come first serve on the wall space.
-Artists must finish by 5:00 at the latest.
-The theme of the work is "the power of creativity and community."
-Artists will supply their own paint and should keep in mind that the content should be appropriate for a school.
-Artists will get free food and beverages and may have students help them with the art if they choose.

Saturday, April 28th - 11am – 4pm

$5.00 Adults, $4.00 Children under 12 - 100% of event proceeds will go towards hiring local professional artists, dancers, and musicians to teach after-school arts programs to Orchard School students.
