Avenue1 seeks a Fine Arts Portfolio Instructor

Avenue1 is an Academy of Higher Learning with an Art & Design Department. Our program is fairly new and most of the students are talented but still learning the foundations of each discipline.

For our standard fine arts workshops we currently go through three dimensional drawing, color, collage, and three dimensional building. Then if a student wishes to be involved in our portfolio classes, they work primarily on portfolio projects.

We are seeking an experienced artist to help build portfolios for our students. Each student is looking to get into one of the top design institutes in the nation so it is important that you are confident of your skills and ability.

ABOUT THE POSITION

As a Portfolio Workshop Instructor you must meet these requirements
- Must have at least a BFA at a well credited institute.
- Must be confident with direction and instruction of Fine Art portfolios.
- Familiarity of Top Design Program Portfolio Requirements.
- Instructional background is a plus but not necessary.
- Previous experience building portfolios is a must.

The Fine Arts Portfolio Instructor position is the most important at our Academy. Our students look up to us to guide them into the top design schools. We are particularly looking for someone who can drastically improve portfolio packages and deliver what the schools are looking for.

As an instructor you will be paid by contract at very competitive rates. We value education and only want an instructor who is passionate in helping our students find a brighter future. Though we are taking every effort to keep classes affordable for students, we will not sacrifice the quality of our classes or our instructors. Our main goal is to ensure our instructors are happy working with us and with the program they are teaching. For this reason, we stress the importance for two-way communication and honest feedback. We encourage our instructors to implement some of their own successful teaching methods in their classes. In order to establish the best teaching program, we need to remain sharp and adapt the program to our students' needs.

If you are interested in being part of our program, please send a resume, cover letter and links to a portfolio to jobs@avenue-1.com
You can also fill out an application on our website. Please feel free to learn more at www.avenue-1.com
Avenue1 is located in Downtown San Jose and we are looking for local candidates only.
